Box Score 2 LOCKPORT, Ill. & GRIFFITH, Ind. - The Quincy University men's tennis team took a road trip to the north to take on the Flyers of Lewis University on Saturday (Mar. 2) along with a matchup with Purdue Northwest on Sunday (Mar. 3) against #48 Lions. The Hawks were defeated by LU on day one 5-2 before defeating the PNW 4-3 on day two.

The Flyers took all three of the doubles matches for the first point of the contest.
Gianni Lopez and
Joseph Restrepo fell to their opponents 4-6 and the pairing of
Ettore Pavesi and
Sebastian Gomez were defeated by Roberto Leal and Kristen Pavitt for a 6-1 LU win to claim the match and doubles point, also bringing about the team of
Zach Willing and
Inigo Villacampa to retire their match at a 4-3 loss.
In singles action Quincy got wins from its one and six players, seeing its number one, Villacampa, take down his opponent 7-5, 6-4 for the win and
Marko Cucuk going the distance for a 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 win in tiebreaks to claim the Hawks two points.
Singles matches two through five went in favor of Lewis as Parzajuk defeated Restrepo 6-4, 6-2 along with a 1-6 6-7 loss for Willing to Wierzbicki. Pavesi was outdone by Leal 6-1, 6-4 and Lopez dropped his match to Mutetwa 1-6, 1-6 to conclude the team match giving the Flyers the 5-2 victory.

Willing and Villacampa got things going with a 6-2 win in doubles match one followed up by a 6-3 victory for Restrepo and Lopez to claim the doubles point. Gomez and Pavesi were defeated in their doubles match by a 4-6 score.
Quincy split the singles matches an even three-three with the Lions, claiming wins in the one, four and five matches with a match clinching victory from Lopez delivering the win just as he did against Maryville two weeks before.
Villacampa took his match by retirement of his opponent after claiming a 6-2 win to start out. Pavesi won his match after taking the first 7-6 in tie breaks before a comfortable 6-2 to close out the third QU point of the match. Lopez won a dog fight to claim the final point, dropping the first in tie breaks 6-7 before taking the second 7-5 and the match in an 11-9 tie break to secure a the Hawks fourth point and team victory.
Getting both the doubles and singles start, Gomez answered the bell in singles, giving the Lions sixth player everything he could handle in their match, forcing tie breaks but unable to come out on top (3-6, 7-5, [6-10]). Willing dropped his singles match 0-6, 1-6 along with a 0-6, 3-6 loss for Restrepo in his match.
