Hawks Stay on Top Courtesy of Robinson's Seven

Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University women's lacrosse team put away another home win on Sunday (March 24) against the Dominican California Penguins. Despite a startlingly close end to the game, the Hawks stayed on top 14-13.

Danielle Robinson started things off for the Hawks with a solo goal three minutes in. Patricia Chavira found her way to the net, scoring her twelfth goal of the season. Robinson tabbed another and shortly after, Amelia Ham drew a free position shot to stay above the Penguins 2-4.

The underclassmen made a splash for the Hawks in the second with Emily Leal, Anni Moran, and Alaina Wilkinson each getting a goal. Robinson and Ham each tabbed a goal in the second as well.

The third quarter was Robinson with a side of Ham, the senior posting three goals--one assisted by Chavira--and the sophomore adding another to the scoreboard in the final seconds. Robinson scored the Hawks' final goal in the fourth quarter in a woman-up opportunity dished from Leal.

Kelly McClure was retired in the middle of the quarter by Taylor Young. McClure posted four saves in each of the three quarters she played and made two more saves in the fourth. Young recorded one save in her six minute stint, and McClure later re-entered for the final plays of the game.

The Penguins fought back toward the end of the fourth quarter with six unanswered goals, four of which were in the final ninety seconds of the game. The Hawks held, though, and came through with another win at home.

The Hawks will return to QU Stadium on Friday when they start conference play against Missouri Western.
