Fayette, Iowa - The Quincy University women's basketball team traveled to Fayette, Iowa, to begin their last regular season road trip against the Upper Iowa Peacocks. The Peacocks showcased their strong offensive abilities, overtaking the Hawks 81-57.
Quincy had the upper hand on the Peacocks to start with four points from
Cymirah Williams alone. The Peacocks found their groove shortly after, taking the Hawks point for point and finishing the quarter up a possession.
The Hawks tried to take back the fire in the second quarter, but struggled to hit the basket, only shooting four for thirteen from the field and sinking none from downtown.Â
Things improved for the Hawks in the third with a few extra baskets, but it was not enough to compete with the Peacocks, who scored a staggering 50 points in the last twenty minutes. The Hawks fell off in the second half and were unable to regroup.Â
Unlike the Hawks, Quincy scored just one field goal from the arc and recorded below average shooting percentages across the board. Upper Iowa found success on Quincy turnovers with over a quarter of the points coming off of Hawk turnovers.Â
Cymirah Williams led the Hawks with a 13-point, 8-rebound game.
Mariann Blass and
Karsyn Stratton added to the double-digits counts.
Janiece Dawson had the only two steals of the game.Â
The Hawks still chase a chance for playoffs with two remaining games, including their final regular season road game at Truman State on Saturday afternoon.Â
