Fayette, Iowa. - The Hawks kicked off the GLVC slate with a tough task in the nationally ranked Peacocks of Upper Iowa on Monday evening (Dec. 2). An explosive UIU offense proved to be more than QU could handle in a 93-67 defeat to the #25 Peacocks.
The Hawks hung around throughout the midway point of the first half, staying withing a couple of possessions while taking a handful of small leads including a 24-22 advantage on an
El Sieger three right around the nine minute mark.
Upper Iowa went on a 22-0 run over the next seven minutes to entirely change the trajectory of the contest and take a 44-24 advantage before a couple of
Max Booher buckets and a
Camren Kincaid three pointer trimmed the deficit to 46-31 at the break.
QU cut into the lead on a Booher three and Kincaid free throw a couple minutes into the second half to make it 50-37, but never ventured closer from there as the Peacocks maintained a safe lead the rest of the way to deal Quincy it's first conference defeat.
Booher was the only Hawk in double figures as the freshman put up 21 on an efficient 8-11 shooting with five threes in seven tries.
John Kelly III led the rebounding effort with seven while Kincaid paced the squad with four assists.
