Hawks Down Barclay in Explosive Offensive Performance

QUINCY, Ill. - Fans of scoring were treated to a great show on Saturday night (Dec. 14) as the Hawks hosted Barclay College in opening round action of the Hansen-Spear Holiday Classic in Pepsi Arena.

Thanks to 15 three pointers, 48 field goals and five players in double figures, the Hawks delivered a sound beating to the Bears, scoring their highest total in over a decade as part of a 116-73 winner.

Seven hits without a miss from deep got QU rolling early as four different Hawks found their shots from beyond the arc, led by four strikes from downtown for Max Booher in the opening five minutes as part of a 6-6 effort from three for the Quincy freshman who finish with 20 points.

The hot start continued on for the remainder of the first half as QU put up an impressive 65 points in the first 20 minutes alone, hitting 12 threes at a 66.67% clip while firing just under 60% from the field as a squad to take a 65-38 edge into the break.

After lighting it up from deep in the first half, the Hawks flipped the script in the second frame, getting the rock into the paint and converting near the basket at a high percentage, helping hoist QU to a 60-30 margin in points in the paint and paving the way for a comfortable Hawks victory.

Of the 13 Hawks to hit the floor, 12 of them landed in the scoring column, led by five double figure scorers. El Sieger finished as the games' top scorer, pouring in a season-high 23 points to go along with four dishes and four boards. Booher finished with 20 on 7-10 shooting followed by Mason Wujek, Camren Kincaid and Joshua Bocher with 14, 12 and 10, respectively.

Tiernan Stynes led the Hawks' rebounding effort, pulling down six of QU's 45 boards in the contest while Jake Hamilton paced the team with six of the Hawks' 28 assists.
