Cedarville, Ohio - The Quincy University women's basketball team completed their tournament weekend with a win over the Cedarville Yellowjackets on Saturday (Nov. 9).
Taylor Haase led the Hawks with a 25-point double-double in the 76-55 win.
Quincy flew out of the gates with 25 points in the first quarter backed by nine points from senior
Karsyn Stratton. Five different Hawks scored in the first ten, but the Hawks really gained speed come the second quarter of play.
The Hawks scored five baskets from close range to start the second quarter, four of which came from Haase. The Hawks defense was key to keeping a strong lead over the Yellowjackets in the second quarter. Quincy limited Cedarville to just three baskets and eight shots in the second, forcing a 19-point lead at halftime.
The Yellowjackets found ways to limit the Hawks in the second half, keeping Quincy to just 30 points total. Quincy took the lead to 24-points at the beginning of the final quarter on a three-pointer from
Mariann Blass and a jump shot from
Cymirah Williams.
Haase scored nearly all of the Hawks bench points Saturday afternoon in addition to 12 rebounds. Stratton and Blass each scored in the double digits, and Stratton led the Hawks in dishes with five.
The Hawks bring their talents to Pepsi for the first time this season on Friday when they face Roosevelt University at 7 p.m. in their Hansen Spear Funeral Home Classic.
