Springfield, Mo. - The Quincy University women's soccer team traveled to Drury University for a Sunday afternoon (Oct. 20) match up with the #17 Panthers. Both sides stayed scoreless for 90 minutes, giving the Hawks four points on the weekend.
The Panthers had a frenzy of opportunities for a goal in the first half with seven shots in the first fifteen minutes. Three shots surrounded two corner kicks for the Panthers, both defended well by the Hawks.
Alayna Vela had a clutch save on the goal line, heading away a shot from the Panthers off the second corner kick.
Julia Mincher had two more saves before the end of the half to keep the score tied at zero.
The Hawks defended eleven more saves from the Panthers in the second half with Mincher making three more saves. The Hawks best chance on net came in the final three minutes of the game off a
Lisa Albarran header on a corner kick.
The Hawks are happy to keep #17 Drury at bay, given the point for the tie in their race for the conference tournament. The Hawks currently sit at 9th place, just three points shy of a tournament berth. The Hawks will host Lincoln Missouri-St. Louis next weekend in their final games of the season at Jack Mackenzie Field.
