Rolla, Mo. - The Quincy University women's soccer team finishes the work week in celebration with a 1-0 win over the Missouri S&T Miners.
Olivia Nelson put away the lone goal for the Hawks.
The Hawks were put under pressure quickly by the Miners with back-to-back shots for senior goalkeeper
Julia Mincher to defend.
Ella Wolfard ripped the first promising shot of the game, forcing the Miners' goalkeeper to make a save and give up a corner kick.
It was
Olivia Nelson to put Quincy up in the first half off a low shot straight to the corner. The junior's goal was her first in a Quincy jersey.
The Hawks kept the Miners off the board for the remainder of the game. Quincy had some chances in the second half to expand the lead, but three saves from the Miners' keeper kept the Hawks fate at 1-0.
The Hawks stay at ninth place, just three points shy of making the conference tournament after tonight's match. The Hawks look to push forward and continue their win streak when they face the Drury Panthers on Sunday in Springfield, Missouri.
