Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Quincy University men's tennis team travelled south to St. Louis to take on the Billikens of St. Louis University on Friday afternoon (Sep. 22). Quincy came away with a win in doubles competition and a single victory in singles from Ettore Pavessi.
Ettore Pavessi claimed the sole win for the Hawks, defeating Ryota Fukushima (6-4). In other singles competition,
Inigo Villacampa dropped his match (1-6, 0-6) to Theo Ortis while Joseph Restrepo fell (2-6, 1-6) to Declan Townsend.
Gianni Lopez lost his match (1-6, 2-6) to Valentin Vasquez along with a
Francisco Nique defeat at the hands of Sebastian Munoz (
6-7 [4] 4-6).
Pablo Mateos Niella couldn't overcome Johnathan Sadowski in a (2-6, 3-6) loss followed by a Sansh Kumar victory over
Marko Cucuck (0-6, 0-6) to round out singles play.
The pairing of
Zach Willing and
Inigo Villacampa brought home a win for the Hawks in doubles competition, taking down the team of Kumar and Sadowski (6-3). The team of Pavessi and Gomez fell to the pairing of Ortis and Behun (3-6) along with a narrow loss for Lopez and Restrepo (6-7 [5]) to Lo Nardo and Munoz. Cucuck and Mateos Niella dropped another tight one (6-7 [6]) to conclude the action for the Hawks on the day.
QU will be back in action next Saturday-Monday (Sep. 30- Oct. 2) for the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament held at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI.
