INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Quincy University women's tennis team took on #9 University of Indianapolis in the first round of the GLVC Tournament. The Greyhounds swept the Hawks 4-0, taking two of the doubles and two of the singles matches to defeat QU and advance in the tournament.
The #1 seed in the West division of the tournament, UINDY collected their first win 6-2 in the second doubles match.
Steffi Lao and
Mar Sarda Marti fell to Margarita Andreiuk and Maria Fiacan.
Anna Matino and
Katrin Ismailova dropped their doubles match 6-1 to Lea Cakarevic and Aimee Reynoso.
In singles action, Vera Griva was bested by Anna Novikova 6-3, 6-2.
Mahi Panchal couldn't overcome Lea Cakarevic, also dropping a singles match 6-2, 6-2.
One doubles match and three singles matches were not able to reach their completion. The team of Griva and Salas Cruz lead 4-3 before the stoppage. Lao reached the third set of her match, leading 6-3, 4-6, 3-2 before it came to an end. Sarda Marti was tied 5-5 in the first set of her match and Ismailova did not get to start her singles contest.
The Hawks season comes to a close with the loss to the Greyhounds. QU finishes at 6-8 on the year.
