Box Score 2 Quincy, Ill. – The Quincy University tennis teams celebrated their senior student-athletes on Friday afternoon (April 14). The Hawks battled with William Jewell College, the men dropping their pairings 3-4 and the women coming out triumphant in a 6-1 victory.  
 
MEN'S RESULTS
In doubles action, 
Ettore Pavesi and 
Zach Willing won their match 6-4. 
Brenden Everhart and 
Pablo Mateos Niella lost 3-6. 
Samuele Contestabile and 
Sebastian Gomez dropped their match 6-7.
 
In singles action, 
Zach Willing lost 3-6 and 4-6 to Uginus Bickauskis. The Hawks had back-to-back singles victories in Contestabile (6-1 and 6-2) and Everhart (5-7, 7-5, and 6-0). 
Ettore Pavesi lost 2-6 and 4-6 to Julien Lafranchise. 
Sebastian Gomez was able to get the Hawks back in the win column with 6-4 and 6-3 wins over Loris Carret. 
Pablo Mateos Niella dropped his singles match 5-7 and 6-7 to Max Wheeler.

Francisco Nique as their 2023 senior class.
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS
In doubles action, 
Varvara Griva and 
Blanca Salas Cruz dropped their match 6-7. 
Steffi Lao and 
Mar Sarda Marti won their match 6-3, and 
Anna Matino and 
Katrin Ismailova won their match 6-0.
 
In singles action, 
Varvara Griva lost a hard fought three game, tiebreaker match against Gwyn Gifford 5-7, 6-3, and 10-7. The Hawks dominated the rest of singles play with 
Steffi Lao beating Julia Santos 6-3 and 6-2; 
Blanca Salas Cruz beating Julie Boerschig 6-1 and 6-2; 
Mar Sarda Marti beating Maisie Markowitz 6-0 and 6-0. 
Katrin Ismailova beating Elsie Crawford 6-0 and 7-5; and 
Anna Matino beating Molly McBratney 6-1 and 6-3.

The Hawks will finish their final home weekend Saturday (Apr. 15) against Rockhurst University.
