St. Louis, Mo. - The Quincy University women's basketball team secured their second conference win on the road at Maryville Saturday afternoon (Dec. 2). Hawks topped the Saints 66-53.
The Hawks needed a few possessions to adjust before taking over scoring train.
Cymirah Williams started the Hawks off with a jumper followed by two
Acheampomaa Danso layups. Quincy creeped behind the Saints for the remainder of the first quarter, trailing by just one going into the second.Â
Danso put the Hawks on top in the second quarter, and like their game in Rolla, the Hawks stayed on top the rest of regulation. Quincy profited off of Maryville mistakes, scoring half of their points off of turnovers.Â
Maryville saw a glimmer of hope at the start of the fourth quarter with back-to-back three pointers, but the Hawks nipped it in the bud.Â
Three Hawks scored over ten points on Saturday--Williams (19), Danso (12), and
Mikayla Huffine (11). Williams and Danso earned double-doubles in Moloney Arena with Danso matching her career-high at sixteen rebounds, and Williams just behind with fifteen.Â
Overall, Quincy was 40 percent from the field, and secured 51 rebounds, the highest this season.Â
The Hawks look to bring the wins home this coming week with a Thursday-Saturday slate against UMSL and McKendree. Thursday's game will be at 5:30 pm, Saturday will be at 1 pm.Â
