Rolla, Mo. - Bouncing back from a tough Monday night loss against Drury, the Quincy University women's basketball team picked up a road win over the Missouri S&T Miners on Thursday (Nov. 30). The Hawks took the lead in the first and didn't give it back, topping the Miners 64-57.
The Hawks needed a minute in Gibson Arena to get adjusted before
Cymirah Williams could get the Hawks on the board. The Hawks took the lead on an
Acheampomaa Danso layup three minutes in and held onto that lead for the remainder of the game.
Cymirah Williams led the Hawks in scoring with 13 points, seven of those happening in the second half of play. Danso, again, was a boss in the paint with 10 points and 16 rebounds, the most rebounds a Hawk has had since last December. This is the sophomore's second double-double of her career. Danso led the Hawks in blocks Thursday evening with 4, the most since January of 2021.
Rebounds and points made the difference in Monday night's loss, but Quincy made the right adjustments to overtake the Miners. The Hawks were 39 percent from the field and 33 percent from three and snatched 51 rebounds.
The Hawks will finish their road trip at Maryville University on Saturday, the fourth of four games this week. Tip-off will be at 1pm.
