LIBERTY, Mo. - The Quincy University women's basketball team captured their first win of 2023 as they beat William Jewell 69-52 on Saturday (Jan 7). This would be the third consecutive win against William Jewell for the Hawks.
QU started the game hot as they led 16-11 after the first quarter, making 7 out of 17 shot attempts. The Hawks went into the half with the lead 28-26. Quincy University left zero doubts in the second half as they shot 52% from the field and made 12 out of 15 free throws.
The Hawks had three players with double digit points, led by
Grace Flanagan with 15 points making 5 out of 6 three-point attempts.
Sarah Nelson and
Cymirah Williams also had 14 points each respectively.
The Hawks defense played a huge role in the team's win by getting 17 turnovers and forcing William Jewell to shoot only 28% from the field.
