QUINCY, Ill.- The Quincy University Hawks (9-10, 5-6 GLVC) won their second game in a row on Saturday afternoon, January 21 against the Missouri S&T Miners by a score of 83-63. This is their first win against the Miners after losing the previous five encounters.
The Hawks started the game off hot, shooting 4-7 from three-point range and 9-17 (52.94%) overall in the first quarter. Quincy remained hot in the second quarter shooting 50% from the field and taking an 11 point lead into half.
Quincy University had 5 players with double digit points. Led by Beth Matas Martin with 20 points and 9 assists. She shot 8-17 from the field and made 4 out of 9 three-point attempts.
Emma Knipe and Grace Flanagan both had 12 points, Rylee Denbow had 11 points and Sarah Nelson had 10 points. Cymirah Williams finished the game with 14 rebounds and 1 point away from a double-double.
The Hawks shot 48.1% from three-point range this game and also played good defense forcing 12 turnovers and holding the Miners to 31.3% from three-point range and 40.4% from the field overall.
Quincy will travel to Lebanon, Ill on Thursday, January 26th for another GLVC match-up against McKendree University at 5:30 p.m.
