SAINT LOUIS, MO. - The Quincy University Women's Volleyball team took their undefeated record on the road in GLVC play for the first time against Maryville University. The Hawks won in 4 sets (19-25, 25-20, 25-17, 27-25).
Set 1
Early in the opening set, Maryville jumped out to an 8-4 lead. They later made it a 14-7 lead over the Hawks. Quincy took advantage of the Saints errors as the set became closer at 17-13. Unfortunately the Saints took the opening set.Â
Set 2
The Hawks took their first lead of the second set at 7-6 after falling behind 6-3. A service ace by
Alice Pavan tied the match at 13. From that point, the set was back and forth until Quincy used kills by Pavan and
Emily Rehagen to win the set 25-20.
Set 3
Quincy jumped out to the 4-1 lead on kills by
Emma Wijnbergen.
Makayla Knoblauch had a kill and an ace on back-to-back points to give the Hawks the 14-6 lead in the set. The lead kept in favor of the Hawks at 23-14 on a kill by Rehagen.
Set 4
After Quincy jumped out to a 4-0 lead, the Saints pulled within a point at 8-7. The Hawks regained a 6-point on a kill by Wijnbergen. A kill by
Mattison Norris made it 20-15 in favor of QU. The Saints tied the set at 24 to force extra volleyball. The Hawks won the set and the match thanks to an attack error by the Saints.Â
