QUINCY, ILL.- The Quincy University Men's Soccer team hosted the Bearcats of Mckendree University on Friday, September 23. The Hawks dropped the GLVC contest to the Bearcats by a 3-2 score.
Quincy got the offense going early with a goal in the 4th minute of the game. Hawks midfielder Kamou Harris fired a shot from the left side of the box that ricocheted off the goalpost right back to him to score, giving QU a 1-0 advantage.
The Hawks opened the second half looking to add to their 1-0 lead but the Mckendree offensive unit started to hit their stride picking up a goal in the 55th minute and adding another in the 67th minute to jump back out in front 2-1.
As the clock was winding down on Quincy in the 81st minute, Ben Scotford picked off a pass and deflected it to Hawks forward Macker Little who found the separation he needed from the defense in the open field to put the equalizing goal in back of the net drawing things at 2-2 with eight minutes to play.
With under one minute remaining in the contest the Bearcats found the back of the net off a feed from a corner kick to seal the 3-2 victory over QU.
The Hawks will be back in action at Legends Stadium on Sunday, September 25 hosting the Saints of Maryville University for a 2:30 p.m. contest to close out homecoming weekend.
