QUINCY, ILL. – The Quincy University Men's Soccer team played host to the Saints of Maryville University for a GLVC showdown to close out homecoming weekend on Sunday (Sep. 25) afternoon at Legends Stadium. The Hawks dropped the match 3-0. QU was held to four total shots with one on goal in the contest.
After a tightly contested first 44 minutes the Saints took the advantage with 30 seconds left in the first half off a penalty kick. The Maryville offensive unit burst to life in the second half outshooting the Hawks 8-0 in the period. MU added two more goals in the second half in the 69th and 77th minutes to stretch their lead to 3-0.
Quincy was lead in shots by Macker Little and George Ashby with two apiece. Ashby also recorded the Hawks only shot on goal for the match.
The Hawks move to 2-4-3 overall on the year, with a 0-3-1 GLVC record with seven regular season matches still on the slate. QU will be on the road next weekend traveling to the University of Indianapolis to take on the Greyhounds on Friday (Sep.30) for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
