PREVIEW: Hawks Hit the Road for the First Time

QUINCY, ILL. – The Quincy University Football team (1-1) is preparing for its first road of the season as they travel to North Canton, Ohio to battle the Walsh University Cavaliers (0-2).

History
 The Hawks and Cavaliers have met seven times on the gridiron, with Walsh leading 7-2. The last game was on September 18, 2021 at QU Stadium, with Quincy coming out victorious by the score of 38-17.
 
Scouting the Hawks
Last time out for the Hawks was on Thursday, September 8 when they hosted the Trinity International Trojans. Quincy came away with the win by the score of 53-14.

Junior Quarterback Tionne Harris was 15 of 21 for 300 yards and six touchdowns all in the first half against the Trojans. Those six touchdowns broke a Quincy University school record for most passing touchdowns in a single game. He also now sits second all-time for career touchdowns with 38. The previous record of 5 was held by Robbie Kelley and Bobby Brenneisen. Harris was also named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week for this performance.

A.J Hardin caught five of Harris' throws, with 3 of them going for touchdowns. Hardin racked up 140 receiving yards. His 3 touchdowns were from 62, 27 and 27 yards respectfully. Jalen Lawrence and Marlin Washington also caught touchdown passes.

Senior linebacker Peyten Chappel led the way on defense with 10 tackles. He currently sits in 6th all time for tackles with 286, one behind Tim Bliefnick.

Scouting the Cavaliers
The Walsh University Cavaliers come into this week 3 matchup looking for their first win. They have been defeated by Tiffin University 42-0 and Hillsdale College 35-17.
In the game against Hillsdale, Walsh was leading 17-14 through 3 quarters before Hillsdale scored 3 times in the final 15 minutes to take the game. The Cavalier quarterback Tom Vatter was 13 of 29 for 162 yards, with 2 interceptions. Walsh's two touchdowns came via the ground game with Tai Carter and Dom Jennings getting 32 of the 40 carriers.
 
Overall the Walsh defense is giving up 38.5 points per game and 408.5 yards.
