Springfield, Ill. – The Quincy University Baseball team concluded NCAA Midwest Super – Regional play against the University of Illinois – Springfield Prairie Stars. UIS took game 1 by the score of 10-4. They also took game 2 by the score of 10-8.

The Hawks scored first in the home half of the 1
st inning on a wild pitch to bring home
Luke Napleton.
Nolan Wosman singled through the right side to score
Dayson Croes to make it 2-0 Hawks. In the bottom of the 2
nd,
Brock Boynton hit his 7
th home run of the season to make it 3-0.
The Prairie Stars hit 2 home runs in the top of the 3
rd to take the lead at 5-3. Midwest Region Player of the Year, Zion Pettigrew hit a 3-run home run to tie the game. Just two batters later, Kal Youngquist hit a 2-run home run to take the lead. UIS added 2 more runs in the top of the 5
th on an RBI groundout and a single to right center. Napleton hit his 19
th home run of the season to lead off the bottom of the 5
th to make it 7-4. He is now 2
nd for single season home runs.
As the game moved to the 7
th, Brant Vanaman hit a solo home run to make it 8-4 UIS. The Prairie Stars added 2 more runs in the top of the 9
th to give them the 10-4 win.

In the winner-take-all game of the Super-Regional series, the Hawks got on the board first with a
Luke Napleton sac fly to center field. The Prairie Stars took a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning on an error by
Dayson Croes.
UIS added more runs in the 4
th and 5
th innings. In the 4
th, they had a sac fly and an RBI double. In the 5
th inning, Austin Alderman hit a home run to make it 5-1 UIS. During the Quincy half of the 7
th inning, Napleton hit his 20
th home run of the season that scored
Brock Boynton to make it 5-3. The Prairie Stars made it 6-3.
In the top of the 8
th,
Sebastian Martinez scored
Lance Logsdon on an RBI groundout to make it 6-4.
Joe Roscetti followed Martinez with an RBI single to right field that scored
Nolan Wosman to make it 6-5. The Prairie Stars came to the plate and Brandon Bannon and Zion Pettigrew hit back-to-back home runs to make it 9-5. Kal Youngquist hit the 3
rd home run of the inning to left field to make it 10-5.
