Men's Lacrosse allows four goals in the 4th quarter and falls

Quincy, Ill.—The Quincy University Men's Lacrosse team hosted the Maryville University Saints on Saturday (4/2) afternoon and lost by the score of 8-3.

The Saints started the contest methodically on offense. They scored just under 4 minutes in to make it 1-0. Connor Eskridge would add a 2nd Saint goal just a minute later to extend the lead to 2-0. As the 1st quarter was winding down, Maryville added two more goals to make it 4-0.

The Hawks came out firing in the 2nd quarter as Nick Woodworth scored just 4 minutes into the quarter. Then at the 7:24 mark Preston Willman cut the lead in half at 4-2. The Saints had 7 shots on goal in the quarter and Hawk keeper Ryan Riggs was able to stop all of them to help his team get back in the game.

The 3rd quarter was quite uneventful as Jayme Brain scored the lone goal in the quarter. The goal also was the only shot on goal for the Hawks in the quarter. Riggs was on his game in the 3rd as well stopping all 8 of the Saints shots on goal.

Unfortunately for the Hawks in the 4th quarter, the Saints found their offensive rhythm. They extended the lead out to 6-3 within the first minute of the quarter. Clayton Cerett added 2 more goals for the Saints in the quarter to give them the 8-3 lead.
