Quincy, Ill – The Quincy University Women's Lacrosse team hosts the Lewis University Flyers on Thursday (4/14) afternoon in GLVC action. The Hawks collected the programs' first conference win with a 13-9 win.
The Flyers got on the board first just 75 seconds in the match when Skylar Lucich on the assist by Meltonique Bowen. Just 30 seconds later,
Danielle Robinson tied the game at 1 on the assist from
Josephina Szmanda. Robinson would get her 2
nd of the game at the 10:46 mark. The Hawks would go up 3-1 at the 6:29 mark with the
Kara Wilhelm goal. Lewis got back to within one at the 4:42 mark.
To begin the 2
nd quarter, Robinson picked up the hat trick on the assist by Szamnda to make it 4-2. After the Flyers tied the game at 4, 6 minutes into the quarter, Szmanda picked up her first goal of the afternoon to give the Hawks the lead. Lewis tied the game with 2:12 left in the 1
st half.
In the 3
rd quarter, Robinson scored the first 3 goals to give the Hawks the 8-5 lead. The lead would continue to grow with the goal from
Patricia Chavira at the 9:36 mark.
Danielle Robinson continued to have the hot hand as she made the lead extend to 10-5 at the 8:08 mark of the quarter. The Hawks lead would grow to as large as 6 on the goal by
Bianca Johnson.
The Flyers struck first in the final stanza to make it an 11-7 game. Then at the 9:00 mark,
Danielle Robinson got her 8
th goal of the afternoon to make it 12-7. With 3 minutes left, Robinson capped off the Hawk scoring with her 9
th, on the assist by Chavira. Lewis would add 2 goals to wrap up the scoring.
