Quincy, IL - The Quincy University baseball team opened up their first home series of the season against Davenport University Saturday (Mar. 19). The Hawks won the first game 4-2 and fell on the second 10-8.
The Hawks opened up the score early in the first inning when Dayson Croes doubled for Quincy's first hit of the game. Gino D'Alessio with a quick response, hit a hard ground ball through the middle to make it 1-0.
Quincy continued the rally back in the bottom of the second inning. Luke Napleton started the inning with a single to center field. After two outs, Lance Logsdon moved Napleton to third with a single to the middle and was followed by a walk from Nolan Wosman to load the bases. Croes took advantage of the bases loaded and singled to right field to bring two more runs and was quickly followed by a RBI single from D'Alessio to make it 4-0.
Davenport brought one run to the plate in the top of the third for their first run of the game and made it 4-1. The Panthers did it again later in the game in the top of the six inning, Davenport hit a homerun to close the score to 4-2.
Spencer Walker Threw all seven innings for the Hawks and allowed five hits and two runs. Walker gained his third win of the season as the Hawks won 4-2 final score.

Game 2
Davenport scored first to start the second game, as they hit a two outs home run to make it 1-0. The Panthers scored once again in the top of the third behind a RBI double to the left field line and then followed with a three run homerun to stretch their lead to 5-0.
Brock Boynton singled to the middle to start things for the Hawks in the bottom of the third. Logsdon responded with another single to put runners in first and third with no outs. Nolan Wosman brought Boynton to the plate with a deep sacrifice fly ball for Quincy's first run of the game, 5-1.
In the top of the fourth, Quincy attacked once again when Joe Roscetti opened up with a single line drive to right field and was followed by a walk from Sebastian Martinez. With runners in first and second, Logsdon hit a line drive single to center field to bring Roscetti to the plate for Quincy's second run and was followed by a double through the left field line that brought one more run and left runners in second and third. Logsdon then scored after a passed ball by Davenport's catcher to make it 5-4.Â
The Panthers scored two more runs in the top of the fifth after an infield hit and a sacrifice fly to make it 7-4.
Wosman doubled for the second time in the game to start the bottom of the sixth and scored with a hard single from D'Alessio. Zach Parks walked for the third time in the game to put runners in first and second. Quincy took the lead as Luke Napleton followed up with a big home run through the center field to make it 8-7. Davenport responded with a tying home run in the top of the seventh and put the score 8-8.
With another homerun, Davenport took back the lead and made it a 9-8 game. The Panthers scored one more with a soft single to left field and stretched their lead to 10-8. The Hawks were unable to make a comeback and lost the game 10-8.
