St. Louis, MO—The Hawks opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Sunday (3/13) against the Maryville Saints and were swept by the scores of 3-2 and 3-0.
GAME 1
The Hawks got on the board first in game 1 as
Mykah Hurley singled to right field, which scored
Allyson Maynard from 2
nd base. After the Saints made a pitching change,
Bailey Mitchell would score
Ashley Poore on a single to make it 2-0 Quincy.
In the Saints half of the 3
rd inning, they answered right back. Taylor Duff and Emerson Heron would help the Maryville offense on back-to-back at bats to tie the game at 2.
In the top of the 5
th, Heron doubled to right center to give the Saints a 3-2 lead.

GAME 2
During the top of the 1
st, the Saints' offense struck for a couple of runs. Emerson Heron singled to center. Then just a few batters later, Emily Corona reached on a fielders' choice, which would score Heron to make it 2-0 Saints.
Lexi Touchette doubled to left field in the top of the 6
th inning to score Corona as the Saints lead increased to 3-0.
Heron got the start in the circle for the Saints and kept the Hawks quiet. She struck out 4, while only allowing 1 hit.
