BOLIVAR, MO---The Quincy University women's basketball team had 24 hours to wash away its 72-45 loss at Drury, and pulled out a 78-70 win at Southwest Baptist in the regular season finale.
The Hawks led 19-14 early in the second quarter, and outscored SBU 21-13 in the second to take a double digit halftime lead.
The Hawks withstood a SBU run in the third quarter, and pulled out the impressive win against the No.8 seed in the GLVC PRS.
Sarah Nelson led QU with 15 points after she knocked down seven of eight shots at the foul line, and went 4-10 from the field while she collected five rebounds.
Dami Adeyinka scored in double figures for the third consecutive game and had 14 points and 8 rebounds while
Emma Knipe had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. It was her second double double of the season.
This was the second win this season for the Hawks against a top-8 team in the GLVC.
First year head coach
Kaci Bailey improved on the Hawks GLVC win total by three games from last season and QU finished the regular season 5-14 in league play. The Hawks are averaging 8.25 steals over the last four games.
Quincy finished at the No.13 seed and will play at the No.4 seed Truman State on Monday night at 515 pm ct.
