Matt Schissel earned his first career win in a 6-5 10-inning affair on Sunday (Feb 20) in the MIAA/GLVC Crossover vs Missouri Western State University.
Quincy trailed 3-0 after three innings, but the Hawks added two runs in the fourth to make it 3-2 before Missouri Western added another run in the bottom to make it 4-2 Missouri Western.
Griffin Kirn came out of the bullpen after four innings of work from
Brett Taucher, and shoved throwing five scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts and just one walk while only surrendering two baserunners.
Quincy trailed 4-2 in the top of the ninth, but forced a bottom frame after two bases loaded walks tied the game.
Austin Simpson then had a sacrifice fly to score
Lance Logsdon, and
Luke Napleton scored on a passed ball to give the Hawks a 6-4 lead in the top of the 10th.
Alex Pribyl earned the save altering throwing one innings and striking out three batters while allowing just one unearned run to give the Hawks their first win of the season.
