QUINCY, Ill. – The Hawks enjoyed home court advantage one final time in 2022. Behind
Grace Flanagan's career high of 21 points, the Hawks defeated Purdue – Northwest by the score of 68-58.
The Pride jumped out to a 7-2 lead over the Hawks to begin the game. QU responded with a 20-2 run over a four minute stretch to stretch the lead to double digits. PNW answered with back-to-back three pointers to get the margin back to 6.
Sarah Nelson would help the Hawks regain their double digit lead early in the 2
nd quarter as they went on an 8-2 spurt. The Pride answered with 6 straight points, than
Grace Flanagan hit one of her 4 three pointers to stop the momentum. QU would take a seven point lead into the locker room at half time.
Both teams were quiet offensively in the third quarter, but the Hawks managed to maintain their 10 point lead midway through the quarter. PNW used the end of the 3
rd quarter and the beginning of the 4
th to cut the margin to a single possession on an 8-1 run.
The Hawks answered right back with an 8-0 run to make it an 11 point lead once again. QU used some clutch late free throw shooting to secure the victory.
They will travel to Maryville University on Monday, December 19
th for a non-conference tilt at 1:00 p.m.
