DURANT, Okla. – The Hawks began a two-game stretch in Oklahoma this evening by sweeping Southeastern Oklahoma State University (25-20, 25-15, 25-22).
Set 1
The opening set was fueled by a Hawk 8-2 run during the middle of it to break open the lead. Emily Rehagen led the charge with 7 kills in the set. QU would take advantage of SE Oklahoma's errors to extend the lead to 22-19. Back-to-back kills by Rehagen and Emma Wijnbergen gave the Hawks the opening set.
Set 2
The middle set saw the Hawk offense run through Mattison Norris as she registered 8 kills on 13 attempts without an error. The Quincy offense registered just three errors in the set and hit .378 as a team.
A 5-0 run which started and ended with Norris kills gave the Hawks a 7-3 lead. Wijnbergen got in on the offense as she gave QU the 17-9 lead in the set. Quincy would win the set in commanding fashion.
Set 3
The Hawks would only commit one error in the final set and hit an impressive .459 to complete the sweep.
The beginning of the 3
rd set was tightly contested as the Hawks would lead 5-4, but from that point on, QU took control of the set. Three consecutive kills by Rehagen saw the lead grow to 13-8. Eventually the lead would get as large as 6 on a Norris kill. SE Oklahoma tried to make things interesting as they got to within 24-22, but Norris finished off the match.
