QUINCY, Ill. – Behind a monstrous hitting night, the Hawks swept the University of Illinois – Springfield Prairie Stars in GLVC play on Friday night in Pepsi Arena (25-14, 25-22, 25-14).
Set 1
UIS would jump out to a 5-1 lead in the early going, but the Hawks would find their rhythm and score the next 8 of 9 points to take a 9-6 lead.
Alice Pavan recorded three straight kills in that span. Quincy would extend their lead to 10 as they went on an 8-0 run to make it 20-10.
Mattison Norris ended the set with three kills of her own.
Set 2
The middle set was tight from start to finish between the two sides. The Hawks tied the set at 3 after UIS opened up with a 3-0 lead. The teams would trade points through the middle part of the set until UIS made it 15-11. On kills by
Makayla Knoblauch and Pavan, QU got to within 16-15. Back-to-back kills by
Emma Wijnbergen gave the Hawks the lead for good in the set.
Set 3
American Galvan's serving run of four straight gave the Hawks a 7-4 lead. From that point on, the lead would keep growing steadily as it eventually grew to 20-10. Quincy finished the match off with a 7-4 run.
