Hawks Overpower Both Opponents for Two Wins

HAMMOND, Ind. – The Hawks opened the Midwest Regional Crossover tournament with two matches on Friday, October 14th. Set 1
Despite jumping out to an early lead in the set, it was back and forth between the Hawks and the Warriors. After a kill by Emma Wijnbergen, QU would lead 6-3. The teams would be tied at 8, then the Warriors would go on a 5-1 run to grow their lead to 21-15. After a WSU timeout, Mark Jones's team went on an 8-0 run to take a 23-21 lead. WSU would come back and win the opening set after scoring the final three points.

Set 2
The Hawks rebounded in the second set by leading wire-to-wire to take the set in convincing fashion. Mattison Norris, Emily Rehagen and Wijnbergen each had 4 kills apiece in the set to lead the Hawks to a 25-18 win. They registered the highest attack percentage of the morning with a .406. As the set kept going, the Hawks wouldn't let the Warriors get any closer than 5 points.

Set 3
Different set, much of the same story for the Hawks as they kept their offensive rhythm intact.  Norris led the way with 6 kills during the 3rd set. The early part of the set was close as both teams traded leads. The Hawks would go on an 8-3 run to break the set open at 20-13. QU would take the final four points of the set to win and take the lead in the match.
