LIBERTY, Mo. – The No. 25 Quincy University women's volleyball team were on the road once again this weekend taking on the Cardinals of William Jewell College on Saturday (Oct. 22) in a GLVC conference bout. Fresh off a sweep of Truman State last night, the Hawks came into the match at 20-1 and 7-1 in conference play at the top of the standings.
A single win away from tying the program record for wins at 21 dating back to 1994, QU made quick work of the Cardinals taking home the win in three sets for their 13th sweep of the season (25-18, 25-23, 25-16).
Set 1
Quincy got things going early to open the first set jumping out to a 4-0 lead on kills from
Emily Rehagen,
Alyssa Grimm and
Emma Wijnbergen as well as an error by WJC. Shortly after at 4-2 QU put together a second four point run off another kill by Wijnbergen and three errors by Jewell to open a speedy six point advantage at 8-2.
The Cardinals fought their way back into the set by the midpoint pulling within two at 16-14. As the pressure mounted, the Hawks responded grabbing the next three points to take a 19-14 edge. Quincy rolled the rest of the way in route to a 25-18 win in the first set.
QU grinded their way to a comfortable first set win in similar fashion to the previous match against Truman State where they hit just .118 but held the Bulldogs to a .100 hitting percentage in the first set. In this match, the Hawks hit for .170 holding the Cardinals to a .093 percentage in the first frame.
Set 2
The Hawks had to play from behind in the 2
nd set as WJC jumped out to a 5-3 lead. QU scored 4 of the next 5 points to tie the set at 7. A set that went back-and-forth saw teams tied at 14.
Quincy saw their lead grow to 20-16 on kills by Rehagen and Wijnbergen. The Cardinals tied the match at 23, but the Hawks would take the set on points by Pavan and an ace by
Kailey Reckers.
QU hit .250 by registering 16 kills with 5 errors on 55 total attempts. The Cardinals hit .222 on their own right and committed 6 errors.

The Hawks used a .308 hitting percentage to take the 3
