Box Score ST. LOUIS, MO---The Quincy University women's basketball team fell to the University of Missouri - St. Louis 58-37 in a GLVC matchup at the Mark Twain Building on Saturday (Jan 22) afternoon.
The Hawks fell behind quickly in the first quarter, not scoring at all until Beth Matas Martin made a driving layup with 4:19 remaining. The Hawks only scored one more time in the quarter, with Dami Adeyinka scoring on a driving layup with six seconds left. The quarter ended with the Tritons leading 15-4.
The Hawks fared slightly better in the second quarter, with Regan Loconte scoring on a driving layup to score the first points of the quarter nineteen seconds in. But despite this, the Hawks were unable to catch up, with the half ending at a 30-13 Tritons score.
The third quarter was very much the same, with the Hawks once again trailing the entire time. However, the defense turned on, with UMSL only managing to score six points. Another driving layup from Martin with 1:02 left brought the deficit down to eleven points, with the Tritons now leading 36-25.
The final quarter cemented the defeat for the Hawks, with the Tritons only continuing to pull away throughout. The last points for QU came with 3:02 remaining via two free throws from Adeyinka, as the game ended in a victory for UMSL.
Beth Matas Martin led the Hawks with 15 points in 35 minutes of play, with Dami Adeyinka scoring 6 points in 26 minutes and Emma Knipe scoring 4 points with 5 rebounds in 20 minutes.
