Box Score QUINCY, IL---The Quincy University women's basketball team fell 63-47 to the Lindenwood Lions in a GLVC matchup at Pepsi Arena on Saturday (Jan 15) afternoon.
The Hawks took an early 1-0 lead on a free throw by Beth Matas Martin, and would later regain the lead with a three-pointer by Martin with 8:38 left in the first quarter. The lead would be regained again via a jumper by Maddie Spagnola, with a layup by Dami Adeyinka making it 8-5 Hawks with 4:41 left in the quarter. Another three-pointer from Martin made the score 11-9 with 1:22 left, and this would be the last time the Hawks led in the game. The Lions scored six quick points to make it 15-11 in their favor when the buzzer sounded.
The Hawks did not regain the lead in the second quarter, scoring via two jumpers by Sarah Nelson, two free throws by Emma Knipe, and a jumper by Martin, with the half ending with a score of 33-19 Lions.
The Hawks were more productive in the third quarter, scoring via three jumpers and a layup from Martin, a jumper and a three-pointer by Spagnola, and a layup by Nelson to end the quarter at 48-34 Lions.
The fourth quarter was more of the same, with a hook shot by Nelson, a layup and a free throw by Adeyinka, and a jumper and two three-pointers by Martin being scored and ending the game at 63-47.
Martin led the Hawks with 25 points and 5 rebounds in 40 minutes, with Nelson scoring 8 points with 5 rebounds in 32 minutes and Spagnola scoring 7 points with 3 rebounds in 35 minutes. Knipe tied Martin and Nelson with 5 rebounds in 27 minutes of play.
