KENOSHA, WI. – The Quincy University women's volleyball team took their second straight road trip to start the season as they traveled to Kenosha, Wisconsin on Friday (Sept. 10). QU was defeated in the first game in a five-set thriller then swept Lake Superior State in straight sets.
Emily Rehagen had 30 kills on the day while
Mattie Norris totaled 28 for the Hawks.
The Hawks played the first game of the tournament this morning at 8:00 AM against Minnesota State - Mankato (NSIC). The tandem of
Emily Rehagen and
Mattie Norris combined for 31 of Quincy's 64 kills in the match. The Hawks hit .214 in the five-set non-conference duel and had game-point late in the final set.
QU led 14-13 after back-to-back kills by Norris in the final set which had four lead changes. The Mavericks rallied for three straight points to come back and sneak past Quincy 16-14.
In game two, Quincy came out with urgency early against Lake Superior State (GLIAC) and cruised to a three-set sweep behind
Sarah Brown,
Alyssa Grimm, Norris, and Rehagen. This ensemble combined for 40 of QU's 43 kills in the match, and hit a combined .412 in the contest. The Hawks hit .343 as a team in the sweep.

The volleyball team is back in action at 10:15 AM as they take on host Wisconsin Parkside then wrap up their weekend against the University of Minnesota Duluth at 5:00 PM.
