QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's soccer team got back on track with a 3-0 shutout win over Southwest Baptist University at Legends Stadium on Friday Night (Apr. 9). The Hawks saw goals from Spencer Van Nest, Cole Hayes, and Craig Chisholm in the win.
The Hawks set the tone right off the bat with five shots in the first fourteen minutes of play. Quincy came through with their first goal after a corner kick off the foot of Aubrey Reis found Spencer Van Nest on a header to make it 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Cole Hayes kept that same energy when he outran the Bearcat's defense and put the ball in the net with an explosive goal six minutes later. QU led 2-0 at the half.
After halftime, QU continued their upbeat pace and took over ball control which limited Southwest Baptist to just three unsuccessful shots in the entire second half.
The Hawks attacked eight times in the final forty-five minutes, and Craig Chisholm shot a bullet past the keeper after Hayes served a low cross to the Chester, UK native for the third and last goal of the game in the 54th minute. Quincy grabbed the 3-0 shutout win, their third shutout victory of the season.
