Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University men's soccer team maintained their rampant pace with a 5-2 win over Drury University on Sunday afternoon (April 11). The Hawks set their season-high in goals during their last home game of the odd 2021 season. QU's goals came from Craig Chisholm (twice), Aubrey Reis, Cole Hayes, and Kamou Harris.
The Hawks once again asserted their dominance early and often by scoring the first goal of the game just 2:12 minutes in. Alsadiq Hasan accommodated Craig Chisholm with a pass in the box, and Chisholm fired the ball to the net and made it 1-0. Quincy remained on the hunt for more scoring chances and shot five more times but unsuccessfully. The Panthers took the momentum into the half with a last-minute goal with only 36 seconds on the clock. The game went to the second half tied 1-1.
The Hawks came out of the locker room with their hair on fire as they outscored the Panthers 4-1 in the final forty-five minutes. QU scored at the beginning of the second half after Edrey Caceres made a perfect corner kick that was finished off on a header from Kamou Harris for the Hawks second goal of the game and the first in Harris' collegiate career. Drury answered a couple minutes after with the tying goal, 2-2, but the Hawks didn't skip a beat.
Quincy stepped it up an extra gear and scored three more times. Caceres was fouled on the attack in the penalty box with 55:27 on the clock. Aubrey Reis took over the penalty shot duties and nailed the PK with a bullet to the upper left side. QU regained the lead, 3-2.
Six minutes later, Spencer Van Nest found Cole Hayes with a long pass from the QU defensive zone. Hayes handled the ball through a defender and past the goalie to score the fourth goal for the Hawks, 4-2.
Right after the next kickoff, Aubrey Reis maneuvered his way through a few defenders in the midfield and chipped an entry pass to Craig Chisholm on the upper left corner of the box. Chisholm struck a left-foot shot on the short hop and beat the keeper to the opposite post. It was his second of the day and the Hawks fifth in a 5-2 win.
It was the most goals for the men's soccer team since September 20th, 2019 where the Hawks defeated William Jewell, 5-0.
