Football Falls In First Spring Contest With Indy

QUINCY, Ill. – After last week's scrimmage with William Jewell was cut short after one half, the QU football team played in their first full game in over 500 days. The Hawks were defeated at home by Indianapolis 38-0.

The Hawks limited the Greyhounds to just seven points in the opening quarter before Indy roared in front behind a safety, two touchdowns, and a last-second field-goal before halftime. At the break, the Greyhounds led 26-0.

It was tough sledding all day for the QU offense which totaled just 56 yards of offense as the Hawks were held scoreless. The Hawk defense minimized the Indy attack in the second half and allowed just twelve points, but the big first half was too much to overcome. Indianapolis took the first game of the shortened spring season by a final score of 38-0.

Peyton Chappel led the Hawks on defense with 17 total tackles (10 solo and 7 assists), two tackles for loss, and a sack. Lazerick Hill added nine tackles from the safety position.

Quincy will move forward to next week where they will travel to McKendree University next Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
