LEBANON, Ill. – The Quincy University football team played in the second and final spring regular season GLVC contest on Saturday afternoon against the McKendree Bearcats. The Hawks fell 30-8 in a game that had five total interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and two safeties.
The Hawks' offense found a spark in the run game in Saturday's season-finale.
Taylor Temple was plugged in as the team's starting running back and scampered off 105 rushing yards on 24 attempts.
Will Henegar got Quincy on the board in the fourth quarter after he broke through for a tackle in McKendree's own end zone for a safety.
Tionne Harris followed that with a short quarterback run for six which brought the score to 30-8 with 2:55 to play.
A crucial blow in the game came in the third quarter when McKendree returned a fumble for a touchdown and gave the home Bearcats a 23-point lead at the time.
Quincy's defense held McKendree to under a hundred yards on the ground and
Lazerick Hill and
Kenshawn Bragg each picked off a pass in the contest.
The Hawks will now set their sights on getting prepared for the upcoming 2021 fall season.
