EAST PEORIA, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team had its season end in the GLVC Tournament on Friday (April 16) night. The Hawks earned the No. 4 seed in the GLVC tournament, but the Hawks fell 25-16, 25-17, 25-23 to the No. 5 seed Missouri S&T Miners at the Eastside Centre in the GLVC Quarterfinal. 

The Miners took the first three points in the initial set, but then three consecutive kills from Emily Rehagen, Alyssa Grimm, and Mattie Norris tied the set at 3-3. S&T then powered a 5-0 run to take an 8-3 lead. A kill by setter Makayla Knoblauch later made the score 10-7 in favor of S&T. The Miners followed with a 5-2 run to extend their advantage to 15-9. Rehagen had a kill to make the score 15-10, but S&T went off on a frenzy of an 8-2 run and commanded a 23-12 lead. QU went on a 4-1 run at the end of the set to make the score 24-16, but it was too little, too late. 

Quincy took the first two points in the second set, but S&T responded with a 5-0 run and secured a 5-2 lead. Sarah Brown later notched a kill to cut the S&T lead to 10-7, but the Miners then scored three consecutive points and led 13-7. Sydney Clark registered a kill to pull the Hawks within five at 15-10, but the Miners scored six of the next seven to halt any of the Hawks' momentum. S&T held a 21-11 lead. QU charged back with four straight points and cut within 21-15, but it was not enough as QU fell 25-17. 

S&T opened the third set with a 5-2 run, but the Hawks had an initial answer as an Alaina Rothermich service ace tied the set at 6-6. QU then took an 11-8 lead, and a service error on the Miners followed by a Rehagen kill gave QU a 14-10 lead. Rehagen recorded another kill a few points later to keep Quincy ahead, 17-14.

The tides turned after a 7-1 run by Missouri S&T flipped the scoreboard in favor of the Miners at 21-18. Rehagen tied the set at 23-23, but the Miners scored the final two points and took the match.
