Box Score ROLLA, MO – The Quincy University baseball team dropped its series opener against Missouri S&T 12-4 on Friday afternoon (Mar 26) at S&T Ballpark.
Jacob Kalusniak singled on an 0-2 count to lead off the top of the first, but then the next three Hawks were retired. The Miners had three consecutive hits to lead off the home half of the first, and exploded with a seven run inning. The Miners had seven hits in the first frame and held a commanding 7-0 advantage which was enough to prevail over QU.
The Miners added another run in the bottom of the second, and S&T held an 8-0 lead after two innings.
Nolan Roseman tossed four scoreless innings while recording three strikeouts and seven flyouts.
Quincy tallied its first runs in the sixth inning. Four consultive hits by
Michael Nielsen,
Gino D'Alessio,
Joe Roscetti, and
Cole Evans led to three Hawks runs.
The Hawks trailed 8-3 after six innings, but the Miners added two more runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. The Hawks did add a run in the eighth on a
Justin Eads groundout that drove in Nielsen, but the Hawks lost 12-4.
