OWENSBORO, Ky. – The QU softball team headed south for their second weekend of games at the Blue Bridge Battle starting on Friday (Feb. 26). Quincy dropped both games of their day one doubleheader 8-5 to Cedarville University and 11-0 to Trevecca Nazarene. 
Game 1
The Hawks attacked in the first inning after Ashley Gerber grounded out to second base allowing Courtney Kernich to score and make it 1-0 Hawks. 
It was not until the fourth inning that Cedarville responded with a three-run inning fueled by a two-run homer to take a 3-1 lead.
Quincy freshman Bailey Mitchell hit her first career collegiate home run in the fifth inning to make it a 3-2 game. 
Madeline Ruzicka singled not long after and Courtney Kernich reached first on a fielding error by the right fielder. Ruzicka advanced to second on the same error. Jayle Jennings reached first on a throwing error by the shortstop bringing Ruzicka in to tie the game, 3-3. Kernich scored right after on a stolen base by Jennings and gave Quincy the lead once again, 4-3.
Cedarville scored four runs in the sixth inning and one more in the seventh to take an 8-4 lead. The Hawks scored a run after Gerber hit a RBI single in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not enough to spark a full comeback as QU lost the game 8-5.
Quincy's offense was led by freshman Bailey Mitchell and sophomore Madeline Ruzicka. Mitchell was perfect at the plate as she went 3-for-3 with a homerun and an RBI. Ruzicka went 2-for-3 with a double.
Game 2
Trevecca came out strong as they scored three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.
In the third inning, the Trojans extended their lead significantly and rallied for six runs to make it 9-0. TNU brought in two more runs in the fourth and put the score at 11-0.
Quincy was outhit by Trevecca as their offense produced only three hits in the game.
The Hawks offense was led by Bailey Mitchell and Ruzicka once again as they recorded the three hits produced by Quincy. Mitchell went 2-for-2 with a double and Ruzicka went 1-for-2.
