QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's lacrosse weathered cold and snowy conditions during their first home game of the season against Lewis University on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 16). QU fell to the Flyers, losing by a final score of 13-4.
The Hawks started off strong after scoring the first goal of the game. Neal Dardis sent a laser to the net to make it 1-0. The Flyers quickly responded after a strike from Drew Kask to make it even, 1-1. A minute later, Grayson Kuan connected with Preston Willman for a goal from the left side wing to take back the lead, 2-1.
Over the next 6:54 minutes of the period, Lewis netted two goals and grabbed a 3-2 lead.
Lewis continued their attack in the second period by scoring three goals and held Quincy scoreless. At the half, the Flyers held a 6-2 lead.
The Hawks managed to stop six out of the nine shots from Lewis in the third period, but the Flyers defense bricked QU's offense. The visiting Flyers only allowed QU to get off two shots in the period.
The Flyers extended their lead by the end of the third, 9-2.
Mason Marano and Jayme Brain scored the last two goals of the game for the Hawks and QU fell by a 13-4 final score.
