QUINCY, Ill.- The Quincy University men's basketball team saw three players finish with double figures against the 6th-ranked Truman State Bulldogs.
Tanner Stuckman led the way for QU with 24 points in a 74-68 loss on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 13th).
The Hawks got out to a blazing start behind offensive production from
Charles Callier. The Houston, Texas native scored 13 of the team's first 15 points of the contest. Quincy held a 15-14 lead over the Bulldogs with just under 13 minutes remaining in the first half.
Tanner Stuckman later connected on a three which was assisted by
Silas Crisler, and that was followed by a pair of free throws from Callier to help bring the Hawks within one point, 36-35, at the halftime break.
Quincy shot 50 percent from three-point range in the first half on 6-12 shooting. The Hawks' defense also forced 6 turnovers.
Leading into the first media time out of the second half, a driving lay up by
Jamaurie Coakley brought the Hawks within two, 45-43. Quincy then exploded on a 19-8 run over the next eight minutes and snagged a 60-53 lead with just under eight minutes remaining.
Truman State responded with a strong run of their own after scoring 21 points over the final eight minutes compared to Quincy's 11.
A Masen Miller three from the Bulldogs out of the final media timeout gave Truman a 65-64 lead, but Stuckman answered back with a tough turn-around jumper allowing QU to take the lead yet again.
QU turned it over four times in the final six minutes of play coupled with Truman State ending the game on a 5-0 run. Quincy was held scoreless in the final minute and a half of regulation.
The Hawks dropped a tough home contest to the 6th-ranked Bulldogs by a final of 74-68.
