Men's Basketball Slips on the Road at USI

EVANSVILLE, In. – The QU men's basketball team went on the road to face a Southern Indiana team that hadn't played at their home court in nearly a month. The Hawks got behind the eight ball early and were unable to recover in a 86-71 defeat.

The Screaming Eagles hadn't played in their home arena since January 16th, and they came out ready to play. Southern Indiana scampered off on an 11-0 run to start the game, and that lead eventually grew to as large as 17 points when USI went ahead 24-7 with 12:43 to go.

Quincy chipped away after a rocky start and cut the deficit to single digits after a pair of free throws by Charles Callier with 2:20 to go in the opening half. This brought the score to 30-22, USI.

Southern Indiana scored the next five points, but Tanner Stuckman scored the last bucket of the first half with just 39 seconds on the clock. The Hawks went into the intermission trailing 35-24.

After the break, Southern Indiana was able to remain in control for the final twenty minutes. Quincy never led during tonight's contest as USI was able to answer almost every QU basket.

The Hawks got within ten points and even cut it to single digits following a made basket by Silas Crisler with 8:50 to go as the score favored USI, 56-47.

But down the stretch, Southern Indiana was too much for the visiting Hawks, and they put an exclamation point on the game with a slam dunk with under two minutes to play. This gave USI their largest lead of the night at 80-61.

Quincy fell by a final score of 86-71.
