QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's basketball team hosted East West University on Saturday afternoon ( Dec 18.). The Hawks prevailed, 98-66 behind a 18-point performance from junior,
Jalen Stamps. Junior guard also contributed with 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Fast break shots fell early for QU and as they soared to a 35-19 lead to open the game.
Mark Bradshaw Jr. aided the run by contributing two triples on his first three attempts.
Sophomore guard
Paul Zilinskas added 15 points to the victory over the phantoms. While also added 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
Hawks continued their efficient afternoon as 11 out of 12 players scored points towards a big victory to kick off the tournament.
East West University, who entered the contest as underdogs had a high scoring second half, but Quincy Hawks tremendous defense made them turn the ball over 21 times. Hawks did not leave any chance to the Phantoms when it came down to rebounds, QU had a total of 47 boards while EWU only had 27.
Mark Bradshaw Jr. added 12 points and played one of the best defenses the whole game by forcing the other team to turn the ball over for 8 times.
Second half highlight was the performance by Adam Price, who ended up scoring 10 points, while shooting over 65%.
