Hat-Trick and a Treat: Lady Hawks Score Six Goals In Series Finale

Bolivar, MO. - The Quincy University women's soccer team scored a season-high six goals which came from four different Hawks in the season finale on Sunday (Oct. 31). Lauren Crane ended her QU career with a game for the books by recording her first ever hat-trick, and Samaris Alvarado, Morgan Evans and Sydney Gorman each scored in a 6-0 shutout win over Southwest Baptist.

After a hand ball by the Bearcats inside their own goalie box, Lauren Crane scored the first goal of the game on her fifth penalty kick goal of the year.

QU was on the move again less than ten minutes into the game. Samaris Alvarado managed to squeeze a pass to Crane who fired a bullet for her second goal of the game to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead.

In the 33rd minute, Alvarado converted on her first goal of the game behind a penalty kick after getting fouled inside the box to increase QU's lead to 3-0.

The Hawks struck again before halftime when Crane was in the right place at the right time for her third goal of the game. Alvarado sent a strong shot on goal, but it was deflected by SBU's goalkeeper, and Crane cleaned up the mess for her 11th of the season. QU led 4-0. It was Crane's first career hat-trick as she set her career-high in goals in her final collegiate game.

In the second half, the Hawks struck again in the 70th minute after Morgan Evans converted a penalty kick goal to extend Quincy's lead to 5-0.

The final goal came on a free kick from Sydney Gorman who was also playing in her final game for QU. The four-year defender launched an incredible kick from distance for the sixth goal of the game and the first in her senior season. Quincy went up by the final score of 6-0.

Freshman goalkeeper Haley Glenn stopped all six attempts by the Bearcats and tallied her first career shutout in goal for QU.

The Hawks finished the year 7-9, 6-8 GLVC.
