Women's Soccer Scores Five Times In Senior Day Win Over Jewell

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's soccer team played their last home game of the season against William Jewell College on Sunday (Oct. 24).The Hawks honored their seniors with a 5-2 victory.

The Hawk attack started things early and created a couple of chances. The early pressure led to an early goal after Lauren Crane dribbled the ball through the midfield into Quincy's attacking zone, she then crossed the ball to Alaina Nasello who sent the ball over to Aliyah Rottger for the goal in the 8th minute.

The Cardinals tied it back up after a free kick goal from outside the box in the 18th minute. Neither team scored up until right before the half. Right before the horn sounded for halftime, Lexi Porchia sent a rocket to the net from outside the box, and the shot squeaked through the keeper for the Hawks' second goal of the game. QU led 2-1 at halftime.

Aliyah Rottger got the scoring party going again after she snuck her shot inside the post to extend Quincy's lead to 3-1. Nasello later finished on a great play after weaving through a couple of Cardinal defenders, and she beat the Jewell keeper for a tap in goal to make it 4-1. Quincy's scoring was capped off on a well-placed corner kick by Lauren Crane. Senior Paige Anderson was in the right place at the right time as she headed the ball in for Quincy's fifth goal.

William Jewell scored one more time, but the Hawks won the game by a final of 5-2.
