QUINCY, Ill / KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Quincy University tennis teams both competed over the weekend as the men's team hosted their annual fall tournament on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 8 & 9) and the women's team traveled to Truman State on Sunday (Oct. 10).
In the men's tournament,
Samuele Contestabile won the single's consolation bracket which gave him a top-five finish in the event.
Sebastian Gomez took second place in the C Flight singles draw, and
Zach Willing got fifth in the singles B Draw.
The Hawks also had a pair of top-three finishes in doubles action as Contestabile and Gomez took second place, and Willing and
Ettore Pavesi took third place.
On Sunday, the women travelled to Kirksville for a dual meet with Truman State and Coe College.
Laila Leist-Alston,
Steffi Lao,
Blanca Salas Cruz, and
Juliana Vidal all won both singles matchups against the Bulldogs and Coe.
Kori Kay Obert,
Nora Hennesy, and
Emily Klinner all picked up singles wins against Coe College in their second match of the day.
In doubles, Leist-Alston and Salas Cruz along with
Steffi Lao and Julianna Vidal both swept their doubles pairings against both TSU and the Eagles to go undefeated on the day.
These events wrapped up the fall season for QU tennis. They will return to the court in February.
