ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Quincy University men's volleyball team was swept by Grand Canyon University on Sunday (Jan. 26) afternoon at Hyland Arena on the final day of the Lindenwood Invitational.
1st Set
Sunday's match opened with competitive play as the score was 6-6 to kick off the first set, but a 10-2 run by the Antelopes put GCU in control.
The Hawks (2-6) later trailed 18-10, but went on a 5-0 run to pull within three. Grand Canyon concluded the first set with a 7-3 run to take the opening set 25-18.
The Hawks had seven kills in the first set on 25 attempts.
Adam Meyer led Quincy with 5 kills and 7 blocks on the afternoon.
2nd set
GCU had a solid attack to open up the second set on a 6-2, but the Hawks responded and pulled within a point at 8-7.
Team's traded a pair of 4-0 ruins and QU trailed 12-11 after getting consecutive service aces from
Michael Ladner.
GCU countered with a 6-1 run to pull ahead 18-12. Grand Canyon captured the second set with a 25-17 win.
The Antelopes had 16 kills during the second stanza of the match.
3rd set
The Hawks fell behind 7-2 to open the third set.
Quincy only had 5 kills in the third frame and dropped the third set 25-14.
Yoran Raymaeker led the Hawks 17 assists and
Noam Hannoun added 8 digs.
Grand Canyon totaled 36 kills to the Hawks 20 and GCU added eight service aces over the course of the match.
