QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's basketball team picked up their second GLVC win of the season Saturday afternoon (Jan. 18) over Illinois Springfield. The Hawks defeated the Prairie Stars 78-72 behind a near triple-double from Alexa Low.

How It Happened
Senior Alexa Low had a Saturday afternoon to remember.

The forward from Beavercreek, Ohio had a season-high 22 points, 11 rebounds, 8 blocks, 2 steals and 1 assist while logging 32 minutes, leading the Hawks (6-9, 2-5 GLVC) to a conference victory.

Low's eight blocks broke a single-game record at Quincy University.

The Hawks opened the game with a 9-0 run and led by 12 points early in the second quarter.

Ella Gobald extended the Hawks lead to 15 points with a 3-pointer just 2 minutes and 41 seconds into the second quarter. Low later sank two foul shots with 50 seconds to go in the half to give the Hawks their largest lead at 35-16.

The Prairie Stars trailed by double figures the entire third quarter.

Lauren Ladowski made a jump shot with 6:32 left in the game to pull UIS within five, but that is a close as the Prairie Stars would get.

The Hawks sealed the game at the foul line making 32-of-40 (80%).

Ella Gobald had 17 points with eight rebounds while going 9-for-10 at the foul line. Aleksandra Petrovic and Dami Adeyinka each added double figures as well.

The Hawks shot 43% (6-14) from beyond the arc, and limited UIS to just 5-of-17 (29%) from 3-point range.
